Britain: Queen will not attend parliament for health reasons

Queen Elizabeth will not attend the inauguration of the British Parliament tomorrow, Tuesday, as she has problems with her mobility, Buckingham Palace announced today. In her place will present the priorities of the government for the next period her eldest son and heir to the throne, Prince Charles.

“The queen continues to have occasional mobility problems and, in consultation with her doctors, reluctantly decided not to attend the start of work tomorrow,” the parliament said in a statement.

“At the request of Her Majesty and with the consent of the competent authorities, the Prince of Wales will read the Queen’s speech on her behalf,” the statement added.

Her grandson, the Duke of Cambridge William, will also be present in parliament.
