Britain – Rishi Sunak v China: Torturing, Imprisoning and Brainwashing Their Own People

THE British former Minister of Finance, Rishi Sunakone of two candidates left in the race to succeed the Conservative prime minister Boris Johnsonran yesterday Sunday heavy accusations against Chinawhich he characterized “the biggest long-term threat” to the UK and argued that “they torture, imprison and brainwash their own people.”

Accusing China of how “steals our technologies and infiltrates our universities”Rishi Sunak seems to overdo it as his rival in the race for Downing Street, Liz Trusshead of British diplomacy, had already hardened his tone towards Beijing.

In his announcement, Mr. Sunak argues that China “supports the fascist invasion of Ukraine from Putin by buying his oil and trying to bully her neighbors, including Taiwan.”

Among Mr. Sunak’s promises are formation of an international alliance, on the model of NATOon “defending” against what he calls China’s technological attacks, stepping up MI5’s support to businesses and universities to “counter Chinese industrial espionage” and, even, the blocking of company exports in key sectors by Chinese companies.

The postal vote, in which an estimated 200,000 Conservative party members are eligible, starts on August 5 and ends on September 2, before the result is announced on September 5. The polls give Liz Truss a big lead.
