Britain: Rishi Sunak’s first phone call as Prime Minister with Volodymyr Zelensky

The young British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak assured yesterday Tuesday (25/10) President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky that he can count on London’s “unwavering support” in Kyiv against Russian invaderssays a Downing Street press release about the telephone conversation the two leaders had earlier.

In his first communication with a leader of another country after assuming the prime ministership of Britain“Rishi Sunak spoke this afternoon with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and underlined the UK’s unwavering support for Ukraine,” the statement said.

According to the statement from the prime minister’s office, Rishi Sunak also noted “the importance of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s work in Ukraine to ensure nuclear safety and provide transparency about any disinformation.”

The two leaders agreed on the need to continue the “pressure against him Putin’s barbaric regime“, in the form of financial sanctions, said a representative of the British Prime Minister.

“President Zelensky congratulated the Prime Minister on his appointment and wished him a happy Diwali.”

Rishi Sunak thanked him and the two leaders expressed their desire to meet soon.
