Britain: Russia could make an amphibious landing on the Black Sea but that would be costly

Russian naval forces continue to blockade Ukraine off the Black and Azov Seas, blocking supplies by sea, the British military said on Sunday, according to Reuters.

Russia retains the ability to attempt an amphibious landing, but such an operation is likely to be increasingly dangerous because of the time Ukrainian forces had to prepare, the Defense Ministry said in a regular Twitter post.

“Mines in the Black Sea pose a serious threat to maritime activity,” he said.

The report said the origins of the mines were unclear and disputed, but that they were almost certainly the result of Russian naval activity in the region, proving how its invasion of Ukraine was affecting the interests of civilians.
