Britain: Russia is preparing referendums in the areas it conquered in southern Ukraine

Russian authorities are under pressure and may be preparing to hold referendums to join the territories captured in southern Ukraine into Russia later this year, the British Ministry of Defense said in a briefing.

“Local authorities are likely to coerce the population into revealing personal details in order to compile voting registers,” the British ministry noted in the intelligence briefing on Twitter.

Russia classifies these occupied territories as under temporary “civil-military administration”.

Ukraine has likely repelled small-scale Russian attacks from its long-established front line near Donetsk in the eastern Donbas region, while in the Kherson region, Russia has likely set up two floating bridges and a ferry system to offset nearby bridges destroyed in recent strikes, the update said.
