British Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng announced on Tuesday that Britain was suspending all financial aid programs to China, according to Reuters.
“We will continue to work with China to meet global challenges, but we can make a much bigger difference by channeling UK aid where it needs it most,” Kwarteng said on Twitter, noting that in 2021 its financial assistance Britain to China amounted to 13 million British pounds ($ 16.2 million).
The announcement comes a day after the government of Boris Johnson announced its new International Development Strategy, in which it pledges to steer its aid budget more accurately to countries that need it to donate their economic growth.
