The British Health Insurance Agency announced today that monkey pox will be added to the list of diseases that must be declared from tomorrow Wednesday, which means that doctors in England should notify local authorities when they suspect that a patient is infected with the virus.
“Rapid diagnosis and reporting is the key to stopping the transmission and limiting any further spread of monkey pox,” said Wendy Shepard, the UK’s monkey pox service.
“This new legislation will support us and our partners in the health sector to diagnose, treat and control the disease quickly,” he added.
