Undersecretary for Housing Stewart Andrews resigned today, showing his displeasure with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and adding his name to the long list of resignations of ministers and undersecretaries in the Johnson government.
“Loyalty and unity are qualities I have always endeavored to provide to our great party. However, I fear that of late I have allowed them to override my equanimity. There comes a time when you must deal with your personal integrity, and that time is now. Given recent events I have no choice but to resign,” he tweeted.
Today found British Prime Minister Boris Johnson clinging to power, but badly hurt by the resignations of his ministers who deemed him unfit to lead the country, while a growing number of MPs are calling for his resignation.
Sajid Javid, the resigned former health secretary, called on senior colleagues to quit, saying it was becoming increasingly difficult to stay in government.
“Walking the tightrope between faith and integrity has become impossible in recent months,” Javid told parliament in the presence of the prime minister.
At some point, he said, citizens must come to the conclusion that this is not enough: “This moment is now,” he said.
