A case espionage on behalf of Moscow reportedly came to light through a major British police national security investigation.
The Metropolitan Police have policing responsibility for espionage cases and announced today, Tuesday, that they have laid charges against two men and a woman for offenses relating to personal identification documents (IDs, passports etc).
In an extended report the BBC reported that the three were accused of spying for Russia, which police declined to comment on.
Individuals are Bulgarians nationals, who allegedly worked for Russian security services, the BBC reported, saying they were arrested last February as part of the national security investigation.
Documents include passports, identity cards and other documents for the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece and the Czech Republic.
Three of them were later charged in February with an offense under the Identity Documents Act. According to the BBC, the remanded prisoners are the following: o Orlin Rousseff, 45, from Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, Bisher Djabazov, 41, from Harrow, north-west London, and Katrin Ivanova, 31, also from Harrow.
