British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said today that Britain would support Poland if the latter decided to supply fighter jets to Ukraine, but warned that such an action could have immediate consequences for Poland.
“I would support the Poles and whatever choice they make,” Wallace told Sky News, adding that the United Kingdom could not offer aircraft that could be used by the Ukrainians.
“We will protect Poland, we will help them with whatever they need,” he said. “Poland will understand that the choices they make will not only help Ukraine directly, which is good, but may also bring them to the direct fire of countries such as Russia or Belarus.”
Referring to the Russian president, Wallace said that no matter what happens in Ukraine, Vladimir Putin is paid.
“Whatever happens … President Putin is a worn-out power in the world and he is finished, his army is finished and he needs to recognize it,” Wallace told Times Radio. “The international community has united against him … he is in a position from which he will cause enormous financial hardship to his people.”
