Britain to remove all countries from ‘red travel list’ for Covid-19

Britain will withdraw all 11 countries from its “red travel list” for Covid-19 from tomorrow Wednesday, because there is currently a dispersion in the Omicron variant community, Health Minister Sajid Javid told parliament today.

The British government added the South African countries to its “red” list at the end of November, which means that only British citizens or residents who had to be quarantined at a hotel were allowed to enter, in a bid to slow its spread. Omicron variant.

“Now that there is a dispersion in the Omicron community in Britain and Omicron has spread widely around the world, the travel red list is currently less effective in slowing down the Omicron invasion from abroad,” Javid explained.

“Although we will retain the temporary measures for conducting tests for international travelers, we will withdraw all 11 countries from the” red “travel list, from tomorrow morning at 4 (local time)”.

Britain requires all incoming travelers to undergo either a PCR or a rapid test no later than 48 hours before departure.

The 11 countries that will be removed from the “red” list are: Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
