Britain: Trials of the 4-day work program have begun

More than seventy British companies with more than 3,300 employees have joined the 4-day program work taking its first steps in the country. Included by local stores, small and medium companies as well as large financial institutions based in London.

The program will last six months and is organized on the initiative of the company “4 Day Week Global” together with the thinktank Autonomy as well as other stretchers such as the famous universities of Oxford and Cambridge. The “pilot” is based on the principles 100-80-100, ie 100% earnings with work 80% of the time, but with the goal of keeping productivity at 100%.

Joe O’Connor, executive director of the NGO 4 Day Week Global, told the Guardian: “As we emerge from the pandemic, more and more companies are recognizing that the new limit to competition is quality of life and that part-time work is the vehicle. to give them a competitive advantage “.

Some of the participating companies provide training, on-the-job consulting, housing, skincare, construction and recruitment services, food and beverage and digital marketing.

The researchers will work with participating organizations to measure the impact that the new schedule will have on business productivity and employee psychology, as well as the impact on the environment and racial equality.

In addition to Britain, four-day government-sponsored pilot models will also be launched this year in Spain and Scotland.

Last year, Iceland published the results of a multi-year test of a “shorter work week” and the results showed that participants ended up happier, healthier and more productive. In 2019, Microsoft Japan tested a four-day week and found that it increased productivity by almost 40%.
