Britain: Two -hour limit on social media for teenagers is being examined by the Starmer Government

The British government is considering imposing a two -hour threshold daily for the use of social media by adolescents in the context of an effort to limit addictive behavior. According to ERT, Technology Minister Peter Kyle said he was looking for ways to promote healthier online habits and block access to social media after 10pm and during the school day. Kyle stressed that his goal is to define what “healthy online life” means for children, in a similar way that defines physical health in the natural world. These plans are a continuation of older proposals for digital prohibition (Curfew). He also referred to the example of Tiktok, which has already applied use restriction after 10pm for people under 16, while offering parents tools to control access.
