Britain’s Chief Defense Intelligence: Russia strengthens its army on Ukrainian border

Russia continues to bolster its military presence on the Ukrainian border, in defiance of Moscow’s allegations of troop withdrawals, according to the head of Britain’s Defense Intelligence service.

“We have not seen any evidence that Russia has withdrawn troops from Ukraine’s borders,” Lt. Gen. Richard Richard Hockenhall said in a rare public statement.

“Contrary to its claims, Russia continues to strengthen its military capabilities near Ukraine,” he said, referring to additional “armored vehicles, helicopters and a mobile hospital unit” that were seen moving toward the Ukrainian border. “Russia has military forces ready to invade Ukraine,” he warned.
