British celebrities mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom this Thursday (8).
The monarch died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
Charles immediately became king and the royal residence Clarence House confirmed that the new monarch will be known as King Charles III.
One of the UK’s most recognizable voices, singer Elton John expressed condolences in an Instagram post. “Along with the rest of the nation, I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. She was an inspiring presence and led the country through some of our biggest and darkest moments with grace, decency and genuine caring. Queen Elizabeth has been a huge part of my life from childhood to this day, and I will miss her dearly.”
The singers Ozzy Osbourne and Mick Jagger also published messages in honor of the British monarch.
“I regret with my country the passing of our greatest queen. The soccer player Harry Kane also spoke on Twitter. “My thoughts are with the royal family at this very difficult time. The Queen was an incredible inspiration and will be remembered for her incredible years of service to this country. Rest in peace, Your Majesty.”
