British celebrities mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth II

British celebrities mourn the death of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom this Thursday (8).

The monarch died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Charles immediately became king and the royal residence Clarence House confirmed that the new monarch will be known as King Charles III.

One of the UK’s most recognizable voices, singer Elton John expressed condolences in an Instagram post. “Along with the rest of the nation, I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. She was an inspiring presence and led the country through some of our biggest and darkest moments with grace, decency and genuine caring. Queen Elizabeth has been a huge part of my life from childhood to this day, and I will miss her dearly.”

The singers Ozzy Osbourne and Mick Jagger also published messages in honor of the British monarch.

“I regret with my country the passing of our greatest queen. With a heavy heart, I say that it is devastating to think of England without Queen Elizabeth II,” Osbourne said. “All my life, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has always been there. In my childhood, I remember watching highlights of her wedding on TV. I remember her as a beautiful young woman, to the nation’s beloved grandmother. My deepest condolences go out to the royal family,” Jagger said.

In an Instagram post, Victoria Beckham said it was a sad day not only for the country, but for the whole world. “I am deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved monarch, Her Majesty the Queen. She will be remembered for her unwavering loyalty and service and my thoughts are with the royal family at this incredibly sad time,” she said.

The soccer player Harry Kane also spoke on Twitter. “My thoughts are with the royal family at this very difficult time. The Queen was an incredible inspiration and will be remembered for her incredible years of service to this country. Rest in peace, Your Majesty.”

Rowling highlighted what the longevity of Elizabeth II’s reign represents for many Britons. “Most Britons have never met another monarch, so she has been a common thread all our lives. She did her duty to the country until the time of her death and became an enduring and positive symbol of the UK across the world. She earned her rest,” she said.

In an Instagram post, the band states: “She has seen changes that are beyond what any of us can imagine. She faced challenges that she overcame time and time again. Her life was remarkable in many ways. We will all miss her and are grateful for the incredible service she has rendered to the people of Great Britain and the countries of the Commonwealth. We send our deepest condolences to the royal family. Her death closes a long and unique chapter in the history of the UK and the world.”

THE Premier League , the UK’s professional football league, also offered condolences. “The Premier League is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts and condolences are with the royal family and everyone around the world who mourn the loss of Her Majesty.” teams like the Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City also published notes in honor of Elizabeth II.
