British Defense Minister withdraws from running to replace Boris Johnson

UK Defense Minister Ben Wallace, one of the favorites to succeed Prime Minister Boris Johnson, said on Saturday that he had decided not to run for the lead.

“After careful consideration and discussion with colleagues and family, I have made the decision not to enter the Conservative Party leadership race,” Wallace said on Twitter.

He thanked fellow parliamentarians and other Party members who pledged to support him.

“It wasn’t an easy choice to make, but my focus is on my current job and keeping this great country safe,” he said.

“I wish good luck to all candidates and hope that we quickly return to focus on the issues for which we were all elected”, concluded the secretary.
