Russian military commanders should be prosecuted for war crimes and military failures in Ukraine, said British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace.
Speaking at the British National Army Museum, which coincides with the annual Red Square parade in Moscow on the Day of Victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, Wallace said Russian generals were as guilty as its president. Russian Vladimir Putin and should be brought before a military court.
Putin and his generals, Wallace said, reflect the fascism and tyranny of the time 77 years ago and their invasion of Ukraine dishonors the country’s military past.
“Through the invasion of Ukraine, Putin and his close circle of generals now reflect fascism and tyranny 77 years back, repeating the mistakes of the authoritarian regime of the last century.”
Referring to the Russian generals, Wallace commented: “For them and for Putin, there can be no day of victory, only shame and certainly defeat in Ukraine.”
“It is very likely that Ukraine will defeat the Russian army,” Wallace said, calling on Putin to come to terms with the fact that Moscow has lost the war in the long run.
“It is very likely that Ukraine will bend the Russian military to such an extent that it will either have to go back to pre-February conditions or actually collapse. It (Putin) will have to come to terms with how much it has lost in the long run and has lost completely. “Russia is not what it used to be.”
During his speech, Wallace denounced the use, according to him, by Putin of the 77th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany to hide his mistakes in Ukraine, where the answer to his failures on the field was a “a shameful display of self-preservation, combined with failure, anger, dishonesty and the search for scapegoats.”
“All professional soldiers should be intimidated by the behavior of the Russian army,” he said. The Russian soldiers “are not only involved in illegal invasion and war crimes, but their commanders have disappointed their soldiers to the point where they have to be brought before a military tribunal,” he added.
Ben Wallace calls for an end to “the irrationality of the Russian generals shining in the parade uniforms – loaded with their numerous medals – fully complicit in Putin’s abuse of their proud ancestral history.”

As Russia celebrates the victory of World War II with great pomp, earlier today Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said: “We are proud of our ancestors, who together with other peoples in the anti-Hitler coalition would not have defeated let no one attach this victory, let it be appropriated. ”
Britain is one of the strongest supporters of the Ukrainian resistance to the “special operation”, as Putin calls it, to demilitarize and demilitarize Ukraine.
