British expert: We have passed the period of the pandemic and we are entering an endemic period

Approximately one case of coronavirus per 40,000 inhabitants is currently recorded in United Kingdom the ZOE application of King’s College London, which regularly calculates the spread of the virus in the country.

The head of the program, Professor Tim Spector, told Sky News that the country now has one of the lowest rates of coronavirus spread in Europe.

“It seems that at the moment we have passed the period of the pandemic and we are entering what we call the endemic period, during which we have low levels of infection and periodic outbreaks that spread to the rest of the population, while the general risk is low,” said the British expert.

He did not hesitate to say that people in East and South West England, where few cases are reported, and especially those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 should be “much more relaxed and less anxious” about their outings. “For me the picture is very reassuring and we should be a little happier,” he added.

At the same time, the Daily Telegraph reports that the government’s scientific advisers will give the green light to the government next week to abolish the rules of social distance with the last step of easing the restrictive measures on June 21.

They will also recommend that large crowded events be allowed again without the obligation to keep distances, provided other measures are applied, such as testing, gradual entry of spectators and good ventilation. Mask use is expected to be maintained.

According to the publication, this recommendation follows the conclusion of the scientists that there was no worrying increase in cases after the pilot sports and artistic events with spectators that took place in April.

The latest pilot event taking place today concerns the operation of a nightclub. In particular, 3,000 people will be allowed to have fun as before the pandemic at the Circus Nightclub in Liverpool.
