British man kills wife in hotel in Turkey – He hit her 41 times with a screwdriver and tried to escape in a taxi

A British tourist has been arrested after allegedly murdering his wife with a screwdriver in their hotel room in Turkey after quarrel. The 26-year-old woman was found dead on Tuesday, around 12:30 noon (local time), in a hotel in Istanbul’s Fatih Mevlanakapı district.

Hotel staff said they heard “noises” coming from a room and when they entered, they found the victim “lying in a pool of blood”. The doctors who arrived at the scene after a while pronounced her dead.

The woman had lacerations on her neck and all over her body, and the medical examiner concluded that she had murdered with a screwdriver. In fact, the perpetrator had hit her with the screwdriver 41 times! Turkish police launched an investigation and quickly found her husband, 28, wearing a bloodstained white T-shirt. He himself had tried to escape from the scene in a taxi. The suspect confessed to the murder and said he dropped the screwdriver in the toilet of the hotel room, as reported by WhatsNew2Day.

Footage from the hotel shows the suspect leaving before getting into a taxi, according to Turkish media. After his arrest, the suspect was questioned at the homicide office. He claimed the victim had given him drugs on the day of the attack, which led to an argument.

According to the defendant, the couple were arguing before he repeatedly hit her with a screwdriver, killing her. He admitted that he was taking medication due to “psychological disorders” and that he fled the scene of the crime after first hiding the evidence.

Police were able to arrest the suspect by contacting the taxi driver and asking him to go to the nearest police station or station. As it became known, the couple arrived in Turkey on November 11, after flying into Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

They reportedly checked into their hotel on November 14, where the victim was later found dead.
