Russia’s advance towards the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, has been delayed due to supply problems, but also due to fierce Ukrainian resistance, the British Ministry of Defense said in its latest update.
“The large volume of Putin’s ground forces remains more than 30 kilometers north of Kiev, mainly due to the resistance of Ukrainian forces at Hostomel airport, which has been a target of Russian forces since the first day of operations,” the British ministry said.
“Supply failures and fierce Ukrainian resistance are significantly delaying Russian advance,” he added.
Heavy fighting continues around Chernihiv, a city in northern Ukraine, as well as around Kharkov, the Ministry added. UK defense, clarifying that both cities remain under Ukrainian control.
