UK Post has provided its customers with the option to purchase bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. To this end, the department entered into a partnership with the German regulated exchange Swarm Markets.
To purchase digital assets, a mail client must pass verification through the Post Office EasyID application, after which he will gain access to the Swarm Markets portal and will be able to buy and sell cryptocurrencies there. At the same time, the system is rather complicated – first, the user buys “cryptocurrency vouchers”, and then can use them to exchange them for real cryptocurrencies.
When purchasing such vouchers, the email application warns of the high volatility of digital assets and potential losses.
“When people buy cryptocurrencies, they need to see a clear warning that they could suffer significant losses. They must understand that this is an investment and not associate the results of this investment with the UK Post, ”said Warren Shute, Financial Planner.
The Swarm Markets management hopes that the new partnership will make the cryptocurrency market more interesting for aspiring investors.
“We make it easy and secure to buy real bitcoins and ether. A lot of people have a real opportunity to start investing in cryptocurrencies, ”said Phillip Pieper, co-founder of Swarm Markets.
The US Postal Service also studies cryptocurrencies. However, for other purposes – the post hopes to improve methods of investigating crimes related to cryptocurrencies.
