British Premier tells Trump that peace cannot “reward the aggressor”

British Prime Minister Keir Strmer asked US President Donald Trump not to accept any peace agreement in Ukraine to “reward” Russia or his allies.

“Mr. President, I greet his deep and personal commitment to bring peace and end the killing, ”Starmer said at a joint press conference after a meeting between the two leaders in the Oval Hall on Thursday (27).

“But we have to get it right. There is a famous slogan in the UK after World War II which is ‘we have to gain peace’, and that’s what we should do now, because it can’t be a peace that rewards the aggressor, or that gives encouragement to dangerous regimes like Iran, ”he added.

Strmer also noted at the press conference that the United Kingdom had adopted its “biggest sustained increase in defense spending since the Cold War.”

Earlier this week, the prime minister announced that it would increase the 2.3% military spending of the UK GDP to 2.5% by 2027, and again to 2.6% the following year.
