Russia has “almost certainly” created a new ground force formation to support its war of aggression in Ukraine, Britain’s Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday.
The particular formation, known as the 3rd Army Corps, is based in the town of Mulino, east of the capital Moscow, the British noted in their regular daily military intelligence update.
Russian commanders, according to British agencies, continue to face “conflicting operational priorities”, trying to simultaneously strengthen their offensive in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas, while at the same time strengthening their defenses against Ukrainian counter-attacks in the occupied part of southern Ukraine.
Moscow has consistently referred to its invasion of Ukraine as a “special military operation”.
