British student finds scorpion in Shein package

A British student found a scorpion in a package sent by Shein, the Chinese fashion retail giant. The woman, who lives in Bristol, England, had purchased a boot and said that, when she opened the order, she found the animal inside the package.

In an interview with the BBC, she states that at first she thought it was a toy. But he realized it was a scorpion when the animal moved.

Then, she asked a roommate for help, who placed the animal in a pot of water and cardboard for it to hide. They then called an NGO that works to protect wildlife and, on the same day, looked for the scorpion in the students’ homes.

According to experts interviewed by the British public broadcaster, the species of animal is commonly known as the “Chinese scorpion”. It is poisonous and could cause serious illness in adults if bitten.

In a note sent to CNN Brazil Shein stated that “we immediately carried out an internal investigation. Additional checks confirmed that the item was from a third-party seller. Our on-site teams verified the shipment packaging process, carried out an inspection of the goods and confirmed that all standard operating processes were met. We are currently speaking with the affected customer to resolve this issue.”
