Electric vehicle battery startup Britishvolt will develop “high-performance” batteries with Aston Martin as the British luxury carmaker prepares to launch its first all-electric car in 2025.
A joint R&D team including experts from Aston Martin and Britishvolt will design the battery packs and battery management system.
By 2026, Aston Martin plans to offer electric versions of all its new models.

“I believe, working together with Britishvolt, we will be able to develop new technologies to create Aston Martin’s benchmark electric vehicles that will live up to our reputation for high performance and luxury with the highest environmental standards,” said Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers. .
Aston Martin is the second customer of Britishvolt. Previously, a partnership agreement was concluded for the production of batteries with another British car company – Lotus.
Last month, Britishvolt launched another funding round. It has also secured the support of the UK government for a project to build a battery factory in northern England, with $2.3bn in private funding available for the project. When fully operational in 2027, the plant will be able to produce batteries for more than 450,000 electric vehicles a year.
