Britney apologizes for ‘body shaming’ Christina Aguilera’s dancers

Britney Spears used her Instagram account again to talk about her stormy past. This time the singer was honest about the mistreatment she suffered during her tours due to her physique. However, her words were not appropriate and she ended up being accused of body shaming for their own fans.

The “pop princess” would have compared her body to that of her partner Christina Aguilera’s dancers, implying that they were a few sizes larger, which made her look slimmer on stage. In addition, Britney mentioned that if she had had the singer’s dancers Genie in a Bottle she would have looked smaller (hinting at thinness). As expected, Aguilera showed her discontent and even stopped following her on social networks.

Britney Spears unleashes controversy by criticizing the physique of Christina Aguilera's dancers

I wish I could have chosen the babysitters for my children… my dancers… if I had Christina Aguilera’s dancers I would have looked extremely small… why not talk about it? Don’t you think my confidence would have been a little better if I could choose where I lived, ate, who I called on the phone, went out, and who was on stage with me?

It’s hard sometimes, now that I see how much of my femininity was stripped away in that moment and every single person who stood by and didn’t say anything. Anyway… I’ll be here, talking about things that people NEVER talked about!

The singer’s words were not well accepted, as she immediately received comments against her, Christina Aguilera stopped following her on networks and the “princess of pop” had no choice but to return to Instagram to apologize.

The interpreter of Baby One More Time He took the opportunity to explain that, in reality, his intention was to vent the insecurities with which he has lived, and not to criticize the body of others.

I was in no way criticizing Christina’s beautiful body, it is what it is! Once I flew to see her ‘show’ and the first thing I noticed was the difference in our people on stage. In no way did I mention Christina, see my post! I was inspired by her ‘her show’ and she is a beautiful woman of power… Thank you @xtina for inspiring me.

To be honest, I’m not trying to criticize anyone. What I posted is a projection of the insecurities I deal with all the time as a result of how my parents and the media have treated me. I would never intentionally embarrass anyone because I know what it feels like. I fight this because of how I feel about myself, not because I hate how other people look. I feel like my family knew I was insecure and that people were trying to feed that insecurity on purpose by not letting me choose who was on stage with me.

At the moment, neither Christina Aguilera nor her dancers have replied to Britney’s apology.
