Britney Spears posts 22-minute audio about her guardianship period

Britney Spears who last November celebrated a legal victory that freed her from a 13-year guardianship that controlled her personal and professional life, is sharing more about her experience during that time.

The singer posted a 22-minute audio clip on YouTube this Sunday (28), in which she addressed her guardianship and the alleged abuse she says she suffered from her family.

“I was scared to death. And I’m sharing this because I want people to know that I’m only human. I feel victimized after these experiences and I think about how I can fix this if I don’t talk about it,” Spears said.

THE CNN contacted representatives for Spears to verify the authenticity of the audio message, which was posted in full on the TMZ website and other outlets.

In the recording, Britney Spears says she has had “many opportunities” to give interviews to media outlets, including Oprah Winfrey, who reportedly paid her “to share the difficulties and everything that is going on in my mind”.

The audio also mentions an episode in which the singer says she was admitted to a center where six units of blood were extracted every week.

In a tweet, Spears addressed the issue and clarified the comment: “Reminder to some of you who may have been confused by what I said… it was 6 small vials of blood, not 6 gallons!”

Lynne Spears, the singer’s mother, appeared to respond to the audio recording in a post on her verified Instagram account Sunday night.

“Britney, all your life I’ve tried my best to support your dreams and desires! And I also tried my best to help her in the difficulties! I will never turn my back on you! Your rejections of the countless times calls make me hopeless! I tried everything,” she wrote. “I love you so much, but this conversation is just for you and me, eye to eye in private.”

Spears debuted her first new single in six years on Friday with the release of “Hold Me Closer,” her collaboration with Elton John.

“I have incredible music now with one of the brightest men of our time and I’m so grateful,” Spears said on YouTube.

“But if you’re a weirdo, if you’re an eccentric introverted weirdo like me, who feels lonely most of the time and needed to hear a story like this today to not feel alone, know this: my life is far from being easy and you are not alone.”
