Jamie Lynn Spears, sister of the singer Britney Spears, participated in the morning of this Wednesday (12) of the program “Good Morning America”, promoting his new memoir. In the interview, Jamie Lynn commented on her relationship with her sister, and responded to fan criticism.
In “Things I Should Have Said” (“Things I Should Have Said”, in Portuguese), the 30-year-old actress makes revelations about the family dynamics of the Spears. The book is published shortly after the end of Britney’s raucous legal dispute with her father, Jamie Spears, responsible for the guardianship of the artist for the last 13 years. In September 2021, the singer obtained in court the release of custody, considered emotionally and financially abusive by a court in Los Angeles.
In the interview and in the book, Jamie Lynn defends herself against criticism of omission in the process – which featured a strong popular movement called #FreeBritney. “It started when I was 17 and about to have a baby,” he recalled. “I was focused on my life. I had no relationship with the guardianship,” he added, adding that he also supported his sister’s recent actions.

Last year, the sisters had publicly argued when Britney criticized Jamie Lynn on her Twitter page for her participation in the Radio Disney Awards in 2017. The actress performed at the event singing a medley of Britney songs.
During her conservatorship hearings, Britney stated that the entire family supported Jamie’s actions – which ranged from managing her $60 million fortune, to deciding the color of the artist’s house walls. “But there’s still love there,” Jamie Lyn countered to “Good Morning America,” when reminded of the controversies.
Now, Britney Spears has reacted to her sister’s book with a cryptic post on her Instagram. On the social network, the singer posted a photo of a typewriter, with the caption: “Should I start at the beginning?”. The publication implies that the artist disputes Jamie Lynn’s claims, and will tell her own version of the facts.
