Ben Raanan, the brother of Natalie Raanan, one of the American hostages released this Friday (20) by Hamas, said it is likely that she will return to the United States in the coming days.
“We’ve heard that possibly she’s going back to Chicago early next week,” Ben Raanan told CNN on Friday.
Natalie Raanan and her mother, Judith Tai Raanan, are currently in the care of the Israel Defense Forces, according to the organization.
Their freedom came when no one expected it, Ben Raanan said, which he heard in the press. “Everything happened quickly. I got messages from reporters saying this happened,” said Ben Raanan.
“I believe it is because the government did not want to call us before the information was confirmed,” he explained.
Raanan said his joy at liberation was tempered by the ongoing suffering of many people in the conflict, including families of ten Americans who remain missing. “There are families all over Gaza and Israel who are suffering a loss I can’t even imagine,” he said.
