Security forces in Lebanon detained the brother of a gunman who opened fire on the United States embassy in Lebanon this Wednesday (5), according to local media.
“The Directorate of State Security, in collaboration with the Directorate of Army Intelligence, detained the brother of the gunman who had previously attacked the US Embassy in a quick operation in Majdal Anjar this Wednesday,” the National News Agency said. Lebanon (NNA).
Lebanese authorities are interrogating the detainee, NNA added, after he was detained in Majdal Anjar, a small town in eastern Lebanon, close to the border with Syria.
The gunman opened fire in Awkar, northeast of Beirut, on Wednesday morning, according to a Lebanese security source. The shooter appeared to be acting alone and is undergoing surgery in hospital, they added.
