Civil Police from the 37th DP (Governor Island) served search and seizure warrants on Wednesday (21) when they came across a shocking scene: an elderly skeleton, identified as Dario, 88, found in a room where he lived with his children, in the Cocotá neighborhood of Rio.
The action was motivated by allegations of neighbors, who were surprised by the elderly and reported not seeing him several months ago.
According to investigations, the body had been on site for about six months. The children were arrested in the act for concealment of the corpse. The main line of investigation is that they would have kept their body hidden to continue receiving the financial benefits of the father.
“We will investigate the causes of death and specify the moment the death happened, and also to verify that this death took place from a morbid state or a disease. In addition, we will investigate what motivated these children to keep their father’s body in the residence,” said chief delegate Felipe Santoro.
The technical expertise was called in to clarify the circumstances of death. Investigations are still in progress.
