Bruno de Luca spoke out for the first time this Friday (3) after the accident suffered by Kayky Brito, in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, at the beginning of September.
It is worth remembering that he was present at the scene and the security cameras showed his reaction when he saw the accident. The actor and presenter was indicted by the Public Ministry for failure to provide assistance.
According to de Luca, he has been experiencing a lot of anguish since learning about his friend’s health, but he has kept in touch with his family and, nowadays, talks to Kayky and receives updates on his treatment.
De Luca explained his version of that night in a text posted on his social networks and said that they had met after a long time without seeing each other due to Kayky moving to Curitiba.
“That night, we met to celebrate the new moments in our lives: fatherhood, family, new goals. Unfortunately, all this excitement made us overindulge in drinking, and this overindulgence turned celebration into tragedy,” she said.
Bruno explained how he interpreted the situation that day and said that, according to his psychiatrist, he had mental confusion that evolved into dissociative amnesia.
“The accident I saw left me in a state of shock, upset. In my head, I had witnessed a death. All of these events that night affected my ability to discern and cohere. I was completely out of control and mentally shaken,” he explained.
The presenter stated that he remembers few moments from that night and that he woke up and sent a message to Kayky to find out if he had witnessed the accident too.
Bruno recalled that he had an appointment in São Paulo the next morning and was on his way to the airport when he received a call from Sthefany Brito, Kayky’s sister, worried that her brother hadn’t arrived home.
“As soon as I arrived, I received calls from my father at the hospital telling me about Kayky’s condition. I canceled my job, got back on the first flight I got a seat on and went straight to his family’s house. We talked, we got very emotional. At no point did Kayky’s family doubt what I told them. During these more than 20 years of friendship we went through many happy moments but also very delicate moments, in which I was always by Kayky’s side. Your family knows me very well, they know the extent of our friendship,” he explained.
Finally, he said that he would have liked to have reacted differently and that he regrets not leaving with Brito sooner. Furthermore, he declared that he decided to be grateful for his friend’s life, for no one else being hurt and for the app driver, Diones Coelho Da Silva, who provided immediate assistance.
