BTC rate fell 3% amid blocking cryptocurrency accounts on Weibo

On Saturday evening, the rate of the first cryptocurrency began to decline rapidly. The reason was the blocking of more than two dozen popular cryptocurrency accounts on the Chinese social network Weibo.

In total, at least 25 accounts were blocked. Now, when you try to enter the user’s page, a message appears that such an ID does not exist. At the same time, the accounts had a lot of subscribers, there were active discussions about bitcoin, cryptocurrency projects and decentralized finance.

“Weibo has suspended many cryptocurrency accounts, including mine. Follow me here, Twitter is more crypto-friendly “, – wrote the owner of one of the blocked SuperBTC accounts.

The social network Weibo itself does not provide any data on the reasons for the blocking. However, it should be noted that the names of most of these accounts contained the words “bitcoin”, “btc”, “blockchain” and “coin trader”. The total number of subscribers to blocked accounts exceeds 5 million people.

Immediately after the blocking reports, the rate of the first cryptocurrency began to decline. If before that the price of BTC came close to $ 38,000, then it dropped to $ 35,300, and a little later to $ 34,800. At the time of publication, Bitcoin has partially recovered and is trading at $ 36,600.

Previously, Weibo has repeatedly blocked users, however, usually the accounts of cryptocurrency exchanges, including Binance, OKEx and Huobi, were attacked.
