BTS’s Jimin Says That Song “Like Crazy” Is Inspired By The Movie “Crazy In Love”

Jimin, one of the members of the group BTS, released his first solo album, “Face”, this Friday (24).

The work has six tracks, including an English version of “Like Crazy” – which also won a clip, check it out:

The singer is the third member of the k-pop group to release a solo album since announcing that they would focus on their solo careers. J-Hope released “Jack in the Box”, and RM “Indigo”.

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the singer spoke about the process of composing the songs on the album.

According to Jimin, he’s not good at saying what he feels indirectly, so the lyrics of “Face” describe exactly how he felt two years ago, when he started producing the tracks.

A curiosity is that “Like Crazy” was inspired by the movie “Crazy in Love” (called “Like Crazy” in the English title), which stars Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin.

Jimin said he was on YouTube when he came across a video with scenes from the film and the song “In Return” by DJ Breakbot.

The images aroused the curiosity of the singer, who decided to watch the film and was surprised by the story.

“I thought it would be very romantic and sweet, but it’s actually a very realistic and rigid depiction of a breakup,” he told the magazine.

“So when we were talking about the lead track, this movie suddenly came to my mind and I thought it would fit in well with the kind of music we wanted to do.”

Jimin watched the movie again and included references in the song. The beginning and end, for example, have excerpts from dialogues from “Crazy in Love”.

“[Eles] express exactly what I wanted to say”, he adds.

Friendship with BTS

Jimin also talked about BTS. According to the singer, it was the members who made it possible for him to start preparing the album.

“It all started at the shows [Permission to Dance on Stage] in Las Vegas last year, and at the time, I was dealing with the emotions that ended up in “Like Crazy,” he reported.

“As we were talking over a drink, I told them, ‘I don’t know if I’m okay. I don’t even know what I’m doing’”.

The members reassured him that it was normal to feel lost and advised him to express those emotions through music. That’s what he did as soon as he got back to South Korea.

“I am very grateful to my colleagues for inspiring me to start working on this album. I don’t know how people are going to react to the song, but I was actually able to completely resolve and move on from all those feelings of being lost,” he said.

The album “Face” is now available on audio platforms.
