Buckingham “overwhelmed” By The Opening To The Visit Of Its Gardens

His Majesty’s services know how to spare their royal subjects. According to the BBC, to compensate for the closure – again this year, due to the Covid-19 epidemic – of the rooms at Buckingham Palace usually open to the public during the summer, visitors will be able to wander without a guide in the gardens from July until September. They will even be able to picnic there, specified the Royal Collection Trust (RCT), in charge, in particular, of this type of events.

“The traditional opening of the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace will not take place this year,” said the RCT, citing an issue related to “costs to open the palace to the public” due to the low “number of visitors to London “And the rule of” social distancing “. And the royal body continued: “However, we are delighted to offer as a possibility, this year, a unique access to the garden of Buckingham Palace. ”

No barbecue, ball games or alcohol

Visitors without a guide and picnics, the initiative is a first. So much so that the RCT is already “outdated”, a few hours after the announcement. Because future visitors have rushed online to buy their tickets, obviously not put off by the price: 16.50 pounds sterling per adult and 9 pounds per child (around 19 and 10 euros). And the waiting list is endless.

Some rules – non-sanitary, these – will however have to be observed: no barbecue, ball games or alcohol. The queen’s magnanimity has its limits.
