Brewing company Budweiser acquired a non-fungible token (NFT) depicting a space rocket, as well as the domain name beer.eth. The total purchase price was approximately $ 120,000.
Anheuser-Busch InBev, a subsidiary of Budweiser, caught the attention of the cryptocurrency community after it uploaded a Bud-style “Life of the Party” rocket as an official Twitter profile picture, part of NFT artist Tom Sachs’ Rocket Factory.
The company hopes that the interaction of society and NFT moves from get-rich-quick schemes to a more delicate future – the convergence of the physical and digital worlds in separate and interconnected systems. NFTs are, in fact, a bridge between these environments – from the real to the virtual and social.
“Budweiser is making its first steps in the NFT universe. We are delighted to support Tom Sachs and his Rocket Factory project and join this incredible community, ”said Anheuser-Busch InBev.
According to OpenSea, Budweiser paid 8 ETH (about $ 25,700) for the rocket NFT. The company also acquired the domain name beer.eth through the Ethereum Name Service on OpenSea for 30 ETH (about $ 94,000).
Budweiser is another big company that has joined the NFT projects and the cryptocurrency space, following the path of Coca-Cola and Marvel in using digital assets for business.
The popularity of NFT has skyrocketed in 2021 and the market is showing no signs of slowing down. According to NonFungible, about $ 1 billion has been spent on NFT over the past 30 days on nearly 300,000 sales.
