The attack on a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, which took place on Saturday afternoon (14), was the 198th mass shooting in the United States in the year 2022 alone.

The situation – which is considered an epidemic in the country – killed 113 children and 472 adolescents. That year, there were also 412 defensive incidents and 518 unintentional shootings of firearms.

Last year, the US recorded 691 mass shootings and nearly 21,700 firearm-related deaths. Mass shootings are defined when they result in at least four people being shot in the same region, excluding the aggressor.

Buffalo Shooting

Authorities said the 18-year-old white suspect, who was armed with an assault rifle and appeared to have acted alone, came to Buffalo from a New York County “hours away” to attack the store in a predominantly black community. .

Eleven of the 13 people shot were black and two were white, officials said. So far ten victims have died.
