Bulgaria: Radev announced early elections for October 2

Its president Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, nominate her October 2nd as the date of the parliamentary elections elections in the country, of the quarters in less than two years, after the collapse of reformist Prime Minister Kirill Petkov’s coalition government.

Radev, as reported by APE-MPE, also appointed former labor minister Galab Donev to head the caretaker government as the country faces high inflation, gas supply concerns and other consequences of the war in Ukraine. The caretaker cabinet will take office from August 2 until the formation of a new government after early elections.

The caretaker cabinet is generally expected to take a softer line towards Moscow, which may include efforts to resume imports of Russian gas. He may also try to mend relations with Moscow after the Petkov government decided to expel 70 Russian diplomats amid espionage concerns.
