Bulgaria: Rumen Radev in isolation, his wife tested positive for coronavirus

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has been isolated after his wife, Desislava Radeva, was confirmed to be infected with SARS-CoV-2, his services announced on Wednesday.

Ms. Radeva is in good condition, the press release assures, while “the president is in good health and the test he underwent today (yesterday) was negative”.

The head of state canceled all his scheduled meetings for the next few days, always according to his services.

This is the second time Mr Radef has been isolated this year. On January 11, he took the same precautionary measure following the infection of Parliament Speaker Nikola Minchev, a few hours after a meeting of the National Security Council attended by the head of state.

In Bulgaria, where the percentage of the population vaccinated against COVID-19 is the lowest in the EU, 963,108 cases of SARS-CoV-2 have been recorded (11,143 in the previous 24 hours), the Ministry of Health said yesterday.
