Bulgaria: To Receive LNG From US From June After Russia Takes Off

THE Bulgaria will receive US supplies from June liquefied natural gas (LNG) to help her after interruption of gas supplies by the Russian Gazpromthe government announced today.

The arrangement was agreed at a meeting in Washington between the prime minister Kirill Petkov and the Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris, clarified the government.

«Actual deliveries of liquefied natural gas from June to Bulgaria at prices lower than those agreed with Gazprom“Said the government in a statement issued without further details.

THE Gazprom, as reminded by APE-MPE, on April 27 cut off gas supplies to Bulgaria and Poland because the two countries refused to pay in rubles. Bulgaria consumes about 3 billion cubic meters of gas a year, more than 90% of which came from Russia.

Bulgaria is holding talks with Azerbaijan to increase gas deliveries and seeks to conclude agreements to receive LNG through terminals in Greece and Turkey. It has also called for joint purchases natural gas from the EU to make prices more competitive.
