Bulgarian ambassador to Moscow’s Russian spy on espionage case

In the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bulgarian Ambassador to Moscow Atanas Krastin arrived on Tuesday (20/4) amid a spy scandal that led to the expulsion of two Russian diplomats from Bulgaria last month.

THE ambassador as reported by the RIA news agency refused to comment on his visit to the Russian Foreign Ministry. Many minutes before his arrival, according to the Athens News Agency, an EU-flagged car also arrived at the ministry.

Russia announced in March that it reserved the right to retaliate after Russian diplomats were deported from Sofia on suspicion of espionage.

The deportations came after prosecutors charged six people, including former and current military intelligence officers, with spying for Russia.
