Bumble Inc. announced Monday that it has acquired French Fruitz in its first acquisition as the dating app seeks to strengthen its presence in Europe.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, according to Reuters.
Launched in 2017, Fruitz is a freemium dating app and is used all over Europe.
Bumble is currently operating the Badoo dating app in Western Europe, competing with eHarmony and CharmDate.com.
“Badoo is one of the most downloaded dating apps in Western Europe, and Bumble has seen strong growth there as well,” said Bumble CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd.
Data from research firm Apptopia showed that Bumble landed about 2.4 million times in the United States during the fourth quarter.
