US pharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc is in talks with 90 countries for supply contracts for its experimental pill for Covid-19, which has been shown to reduce the risk of hospitalization or death in patients at high risk of serious illness by 89%, it said today. Burla, who is in talks, added that Pfizer expects to price its drug, called Paxlovid, close to the price set by rival Merck & Co Inc for its candidate antiviral drug against Covid-19 taken from mouth.
The standard price for the Merck molnopiravir pill is $ 700 for a five-day treatment.
