Burn the weapons of the PKK guerrillas – “turning point without a return”, Ankara says

Thirty PKK fighters – 15 women and 15 men – destroyed their weapons at a symbolic ceremony on Friday. The weapons were delivered near the city of Suleimaniya in northern Iraq, which is controlled by the autonomous Kurdish government, on the outskirts of Mount Kandil where the main base of the organization’s armed men is located. This is a historical development in the context of the Kurdish resolution process in Turkey and the end of the bloody guerrilla warfare for 41 years, according to ERT. This ceremony essentially marks the formal start of disarmament expected, according to Turkish officials, to last for two to five months. The weapons delivered were rejected in a cauldron prepared and then surrendered to the fire in order to be destroyed.
