At least 23 people died as a result of the accident involving a bus that fell into a cliff in the city of União dos Palmares, in the interior of the state of Alagoas, in the early afternoon of this Sunday (24).
According to firefighters, the call took place around 3pm today to respond to the incident. In total, the vehicle carried around 40 passengers.
In addition to firefighters, SAMU vehicles and an air support helicopter from Maceió are involved in the rescue effort to help the victims. Some of them have already been removed from the scene and taken to the Mata Regional Hospital.
According to the Municipality of União do Palmares, all possible efforts are being made to provide assistance to the victims.
