At dawn this Friday (24), a tourist bus hit a car and a truck on BR-153 in the municipality of Aparecida de Goiânia, and fell on a cliff, leaving at least six dead.

According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), another 30 people were injured and were rescued by the Fire Department at the city’s Emergency Hospital and other Emergency Care Units (UPAs) in the region.

According to the concessionaire Triunfo Concebra, which manages the highway, the company’s bus did not respect the signs, invaded the dividing line of the lane and collided with the side of a concessionaire’s vehicle.

Then, the Real Expresso company bus, which left São Paulo towards Brasília, collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction of the highway, and fell into a ravine.

The death of five passengers on the bus was found shortly after the accident. The truck driver was injured and taken to a hospital.

“The PRF is at the site evaluating, together with the Fire Department and the Concessionaire, the conditions to release traffic on the highway”, said the PRF in a note.

“The bus will only be withdrawn at dawn on Saturday, when traffic is less intense, so that the flow can be released as soon as possible”, complements the text, which also asks drivers to avoid going through this stretch of BR-153.

However, around 11:00 am this Friday (24), the bus was removed from the cliff by the authorities. “At this moment, the experts are still carrying out some surveys and the runway will be cleaned so that it can be cleared”, informed the PRF.
