Bus fares in Belo Horizonte increase on the 1st; see new values

Belo Horizonte City Hall announced that, from January 1st, the new municipal transport tariffs in the capital of Minas Gerais will come into effect. The most expensive ticket will go from R$5.25 to R$5.75 – an increase of 9.5%.

The municipal administration highlights that the 12 lines that run through towns and favelas in Belo Horizonte will continue to be free. These itineraries serve approximately 200 thousand people per month.

According to the city hall, the adjustment “is necessary for the continuity of investments in public transport and improvement of services”. The last increase occurred in December 2023.

Electronic credits for the BHBUS Vale-Transporte Card, purchased until December 31st of this year, will have the purchase value maintained until use. BHBUS User Card holders, with credits acquired until December 31, 2024, will be able to use them up to 45 days after the readjustment date, with the old rate being charged, and may also be exchanged for electronic credits from a new batch, without any burden on users.
