Buses set on fire in Rio during police operation

Two buses were set on fire by a group of individuals linked to drug trafficking in the city center of Belford Roxo, in Rio de Janeiro, this Wednesday (14).

The incident occurred after an operation by the Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro (PMERJ), which aimed to dismantle criminal groups operating in the Castelar, São Leopoldo and Parque Floresta communities.

According to the command of the 39th BPM, which carried out the operation, the action also aimed to suppress the movement of criminals involved in territorial disputes between rival gangs. Two suspects were arrested by the agents and a pistol was seized.

Furthermore, after the vehicle fire and the operation, policing was reinforced in the region.
