Businessman injured in helicopter crash in Caruaru (PE) dies

Businessman Henrique da Cunha Santos, until then the only survivor of a helicopter crash in Caruaru, in Agreste de Pernambuco, died on Tuesday night (29) after 50 days in hospital, under intensive treatment for burns.

The death was caused by multiple organ failure, according to the family in a press release. Henrique suffered burns on 90% of his body due to the aircraft fire.

In a statement, the family’s lawyer, Nívson Rafael Braga, highlighted Henrique’s legacy: “He was a loving father, very attached to his children, and an exemplary husband.”

There is still no information about Henrique’s wake and burial.

Remember the case

On September 9, a helicopter crashed in the rural area of ​​Caruaru, in the interior of the state. The tragedy resulted in the death of two people, aged 40 and 45, while Henrique da Cunha Santos, the only survivor, was rescued alive.

Residents nearby filmed the burning aircraft, crashed in a forested area in the Nina Liberato neighborhood.

Henrique was quickly rescued by members of the public to a health unit in the region and was later transferred to Hospital São Marcos, in Recife, where he was hospitalized for 50 days.

However, the businessman succumbed to his injuries and passed away last Tuesday (29). Authorities continue to investigate the causes of the aircraft crash.
