Prosecutors Evelyn Moura Virginio Martins and Josmar Tassignon Júnior, from the city of Porto Feliz, in the interior of São Paulo, denounced businessman Thiago Brennand, 42, for the crime of bodily harm.
According to the complaint, he allegedly assaulted waiter Vitor Igor Rodrigues Machado, 26, who works in a Fasano restaurant unit, inside a closed condominium, in which the accused has a residence.
Thiago Brennand is accused of rape, false imprisonment, threat and bodily harm by more than ten women. He was found by Interpol last Thursday (13), in Abu Dhabi, where he awaits the process of extradition to Brazil.
He has two preventive detention orders against him, one from the judge of the 6th Criminal Court of São Paulo, Érika Mascarenhas, and another from the judge of the 1st Criminal Court of Porto Feliz, Jorge Panserini.
According to the complaint in the case of Vitor Machado, on March 11, the waiter was leaving the condominium on a motorcycle at the end of his workday, when he passed in front of Brennand’s garage. He came to a stop, but as the businessman’s vehicle did not leave the garage, he resumed his journey.
Moments later, Machado says he was approached by Brennand, who was driving a Land Rover vehicle. The businessman reportedly put the car in front of the motorcycle, closed the waiter, and demanded that he get off, claiming that he was driving too fast.
The Public Ministry claims that the accused physically assaulted the waiter “with a slap in the face and strangled him”, called him a “tramp” and threatened to prohibit his entry into the condominium.
In an interview with Estadão in September, Machado says he was punched in the forehead, eye, nose – which bled – and the back of the head, and that he had to be changed jobs by the restaurant to preserve his integrity.
The waiter registered a police report on the day of the facts and also underwent an expert examination by the Legal Medical Institute (IML), which documented the marks of the injuries.
As the maximum penalty for the crime of light bodily harm is one year, the case is being processed before the Special Criminal Court of Porto Feliz.
In the same act in which the complaint was filed, the Public Ministry rejected the possibility of a criminal transaction – a kind of “agreement” made with the agency, in which the accused provides services to the community or pays a fine in exchange for the filing of the action – based on in the criminal records weighing against Brennand.
He is described by the prosecution as “someone who sees himself above the law and order and who proclaims innocence in a context of fanciful and unrelenting persecution”.
The report contacted lawyer Ricardo Sayeg, who defends businessman Thiago Brennand, but he said he will not comment on the case.
